in Goa, we see a lot of pollution day by day and it needs help from people to control it. In short, we have thousands deforestation because of illegal mines.
We've seen a government reserve forest gone for mine.
I want to publish this issue internationally
Please reply to me and I will give more about this problem.
Barry's Response - This is too much and it shows us where there is a problem. Government reserves are there for a reason, to protect a portion of the environment. When violations are allowed to occur, what is the point of designating a reserve?
The world in general needs a better system of encouraging compliance, and it would work better if such a system were based on education rather than enforcement.
Better, How?
In India, many protected environmental areas, called Conservation reserves or community reserves, were set out in the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Act of 2002, with additions and changes in 2003. They accommodate the needs of wildlife in their natural habitat, and attempt to do so without hindering the human population from achieving the things they require.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has set out to find ways to
make environment and human development more compatible than we have seen in past decades. How? Through research, cooperation, practices and laws. Their protected categories go from 1 to 6 with the category 5, Protected Landscape/Seascape, and category 6, Protected Area with sustainable use of natural resources both define how
sustainable development can occur. The two Indian designations referred to above correspond loosely with these two categories.
It's enough to make anyone anxious, but let's talk science instead.
Meteorologically and climate-wise, the planet won't explode. Earth's been through a lot - asteroid impacts, supervolcanoes, ice ages for instance. Climate change (and something less flashy) could pose big challenges to us and many species. I'll give you a quick weather breakdown:
- The temperature has risen ~1.2°C since pre-industrial times. That's not much, but some say it's already causing stronger hurricanes, droughts, and heatwaves. Adding just a few degrees to your oven makes things cook faster!
- Jet streams, ocean currents, and Earth's weather conveyor belts can be disrupted. As the Arctic ice melts, heat and cold air circulate differently, causing longer, weirder winters and intense summer heatwaves. It's science.
- It's like pulling bricks out of a Jenga tower - it eventually wobbles.
Are the Four Horsemen coming?
We can see how human actions
like using traditional fuels, deforestation, pollution are disrupting natural systems.
Good news: this apocalypse isn't inevitable. We can stabilize things if we reduce greenhouse gas emissions, restore ecosystems, and invest in clean tech. Think of it like noticing cracks in your house's foundation before it collapses.
Do you know what else helps? Using renewable energy (solar, wind), protecting forests and oceans, eating sustainably (some folks might be okay with insects, even), voting for leaders who consider climate action, and educating others (hey, that's what WE do).
Horseman of Positive Action is less scary, more effective than the apocalypse, Ben. Is it time to swap doomscrolling for solutions?
