threat for our children's future

Our Civilization...later on
I think that global warming is the biggest threat for our children's future. It would be nice to see that other people care about it too. Great article.
Barry's Response - I hope that our children are somewhat resilient. Better than some societies of the past anyway. The dinosaurs once ruled the earth. Something caused their empire to collapse. Something environmental, it has been widely speculated, but nobody's 100% sure.
As the wheel of evolution keeps turning, new species appear and others go extinct. Some scientists peg the average lifespan for a species at about 10 million years, with great variations. Because people have been able to inhabit pretty much the entire planet, the
whole earth would have to be wiped out to wipe us out, unless war, disease or "I, Robot" does the trick.
Or maybe these Metallica lyrics provide a prettier picture, and another possibility.
The Horsemen are drawing nearer
On the leather steeds they ride
They have come to take your life
On through the dead of night
With the four Horsemen ride
or choose your fate and die
Time
has taken its toll on you
The lines that crack your face
Famine
Your body it has torn through
Withered in every place
Pestilence
For what you have had to endure
And what you have put others through
Death
Deliverance for you for sure
There is nothing you can do
Speaking of the number four in the book or Revelation:
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." Ch7One reviewer of this short passage postulated that the "corners of the earth" could be translated to mean "global" and that the "four winds" generally mean weather. So the Revelation author potentially describes a
global weather phenomenon that could alter the earth with its "power to harm the land and the sea."
hmmm... Feasible.
