we should think again

we should think again

Barry's Response - A little fun, even with a serious subject, never hurt anyone. Here's another.

A Note on Propaganda

Some blame this whole global warming propaganda thing on Wikipedia. The open wiki ("what I know is...") format, in its original inception, allowed anybody with an internet connection to post content, under the guise that they knew something valuable about the subject. It would be then retained and expanded on. Now there is so much volunteer content that the editors at Wikipedia can pick and choose (through moderation and consensus) the content and publish better quality than before.

This open format, in the past, has allowed various opinions to collect on controversial subjects. Global warming included. It appears that people offering knowledge of this sort now need to be a part of some exclusive club to have their content displayed online these days. And that has of people complaining.

Personally

I don't think it ever was Wikipedia's mandate to be anybody's soapbox, rather, it exists as a free online research and reference tool, with credible information for anybody who knows how to find it. It presents scientific and historical data about GlobalWarming as objectively as possible and the staff put in a great deal of effort to keep it that way.

They try their best to keep meaningless propaganda (this drawing above could be an example) in its place (i.e., not associated with credible information). It's not perfect, but they're working on it.

Let's not forget that many of the 'official' narratives about climate change have political and economic baggage. Some institutions and media outlets cherry-pick data, exaggerate trends, or downplay natural climate variability, like solar cycles, ocean currents, and cosmic rays. Are some of those fear-driven headlines about control, funding, or political leverage? Give it a try. Be cautious about propaganda - whether it's a fiery cartoon or a dramatic news clip.

funny, cool, serious, it makes its point along with some laughs!!!!!Haha ha ha...

From Barry - I'm glad you liked it...It's okay to chuckle while respecting the environment. Humour helps the truth go down. It's sometimes good to poke fun at what we're told. Hope you had a good time.

your taking a serious issue and basically making fun of it.... our earth is something u should be more serious about not making stupid piks of our earth on fire!!!!!! duh think a lil bit more

From Barry - It's a serious issue. It's hard to think clearly when you're constantly hearing doom and gloom. Instead of shutting people down, laughter can open the door to real reflection. Taking care of the Earth doesn't have to be somber. I'm always on my toes with you.

From Barry - Great, The meme raises a cheeky point: maybe we've seen too many 'Earth-on-fire' memes without checking the data behind them. Cycles of nature? Is it all human-driven? Science is full of questions, but that's what makes it interesting, right?
